New Orleans (LA) native and former Newman center Chris Cenac is the top-ranked center and the number 14 overall prospect in the Class of 2025, according to 247sports updated rankings.
Cenac, who announced last month he was transferring from Newman to Link Academy in Missouri, played for the USA Basketball Men’s U17 national team averaging 8.9 points, 5.4 rebounds, 1.0 steals, and 0.6 blocks in less than 12 minutes a contest. He compiled shooting splits of .538/.250/64.3%.
In 2023 in Louisiana he averaged 13.9 points, 10.2 rebounds, 1.7 assist, 1.3 blocks and 1.9 steals per game.
“My ball handling and my shooting has developed and that has made me more versatile,” Cenac told On3 why he thinks he has gotten more offers recently. he made the huge jump in the. “I’m able to play all over the court with a good motor and my basketball IQ. I watch a lot of guys who are 6-foot-10-plus who can move around. Players like Naz Reid and Anthony Davis.”
Cenac currently has offers from Kentucky, Cal, Arkansas, LSU, Alabama, Auburn, Baylor, UConn, Houston, Memphis, Texas and Texas A&M, among others.
Me and my family will sit down and talk about schools later on after the summer. We’ll be looking my relationship with the coaches. We’ll look for a school that is going to develop me. Also the opportunity for me to be able to play when I get to school and that’s the main things.
