Tennessee surrendered the long ball to Kentucky Friday night in the second game of its Southeastern Conference series.
Kentucky clubbed three two-run homers en route to capturing an 8-2 victory over the No. 4 Volunteers at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.
Tennessee (33-11, 13-7 SEC) also scored its run via the homer.
The Vols darted out to a 1-0 lead when Knoxville Central graduate and East Tennessee State transfer Jackson Greer went deep in the bottom of the fifth inning.
John Rhodes answered for the Wildcats (26-14, 10-10) when he hit a two-run shot over the left-center field fence to give Kentucky a 2-1 lead.
Tennessee would tie the game in the bottom of the frame as Luc Lipcius went deep, hitting a solo shot over the center field wall.
After that, the Wildcats scored six unanswered runs as Rhodes hit another two-run homer in the eighth and Jacob Plastiak had a two-run shot in the ninth.
Kentucky also tallied an unearned run in the ninth when Austin Schultz reached on an error.
Schultz also had an RBI single in the seventh.
