For fans of Kentucky basketball, it seems as though each new days brings a new 2025 recruit that the Wildcats are in contact with. The newest name on the list is Mikel Brown Jr.
Brown is the 15th ranked player overall by 247sports. The 6’2″ 165 lb point guard has a five-star grade and is the second best point guard in the class.
According to Jacob Polacheck of Kentucky Sports Radio (subscription required), Mark Pope called Brown after watching him play over the weekend. The Overtime Elite star apparently impressed everybody who saw him play.

Obviously, as such a highly-ranked player, he has a number of teams interested. A number of SEC teams have offered him already, including the Tennessee Volunteers, Auburn Tigers, and Alabama Crimson Tide. He has already taken visits to Alabama and Ole Miss.
Pope and the Kentucky staff are in the process of feeling out a lot of the top recruits in 2025. It will be his first class with the Wildcats, and fans are watching closely. There’s no way to say yet how successful he’ll be with the recruiting class, but he’s definitely putting in the work.
