Kentucky bats silenced in College World Series loss to Texas A&M

Kentucky baseball suffered a 5 – 1 defeat against Texas A&M at the College World Series.

Kentucky needed extra innings to win their first ever College World Series game on Friday. On Monday, they didn’t have the magic from their previous games, and were shut down by Texas A&M and their pitcher, Ryan Prager.

The game was a pitcher’s duel through five innings, with neither team managing a run. In the sixth, however, the Aggies broke through. A two-run single got things starter. It was followed by an RBI double, then another two-run single, and Texas A&M was up 5 – 0.

Kentucky was never able to get the offense going. Ryan Nicholson hit a solo homerun in the ninth inning, but that was it for the offense. They managed just four hits in total, and just the one run.

Mason Moore was terrific for the first five innings, but the sixth inning to away from him. The bullpen kept the score from getting worse, but the offense just didn’t have enough firepower on Monday night, and they fell 5 – 1.

The Wildcats will now play an elimination game on Tuesday against the Florida Gators. The game will be at 7:00 PM ET and will be on ESPN.
