Kentucky basketball coach Mark Pope has made a flurry of scholarship offers in the past few days, including ones to center Chris Cenac and forward Niko Bundalo. Now, he has made another, this time to 2025 guard Mikel Brown Jr.
Pope first contacted Brown back in May, but has now, according to Overtime Elite, extended an offer. He also have offers from multiple other top programs. In the SEC, the Alabama Crimson Tide, Tennessee Volunteers, and Florida Gators, among others, have made offers.

Brown is a top 15 player in the 2025 class, ranked 13th in 247sports composite rankings. He’s their number two overall point guard in the class.
Fair or not, Mark Pope is going to be judged quickly on how well he’s able to recruit. It’s too early to tell how his first recruiting class will look, but he isn’t shying away from targeting some of the top players in the class. Brown is definitely one of them, and fans will wait and see how his recruitment plays out.
