Kentucky baseball will host the Lexington Regional as the 2nd overall seed

Kentucky baseball is the number two overall seed and hosts the Lexington Regional beginning Friday.

The NCAA Tournament field for college baseball has been announced, and the prediction for Kentucky baseball proved to be correct. They will host the Lexington Regional as the number two overall seed.

Joining the Wildcats in Lexington will be Indiana State, Illinois, and Western Michigan. Kentucky gets to host the regional portion of the NCAA Tournament by virtue of a 40 – 14 season and a share of the SEC regular season championship.

Kentucky will face Western Michigan to open things up. That game will be on Friday at 12:00 PM ET at Kentucky Proud Park. If they win, they’ll meet the winner between Illinois and Indiana St on Saturday. The goal is to move on to the super regionals that begin on June 7th, and then the College World Series in mid-June.

The Wildcats reached the Baton Rouge Super Regional last season before losing to LSU, who would wind up winning the national championship. Kentucky is looking for its first college baseball championship.
