Kentucky baseball is out of the SEC Tournament after a loss to South Carolina

Kentucky baseball was eliminated in the SEC Tournament by South Carolina 6 – 5.

The SEC Tournament did not go well for the number two ranked Kentucky Wildcats. After getting blown out in the opener, they bounced back on Thursday with a win over the Arkansas Razorbacks. On Friday, however, they were knocked out of the tournament by South Carolina by a score of 6 – 5.

Kentucky opened the scoring in the second inning on a Nolan McCarthy double, but Arkansas answered with a three-run homerun. The Cats re-took the lead in the fourth, but Arkansas scored three more in the fifth. Ryan Nicholson doubled in a run in the eighth, but it wasn’t enough, and the Wildcats fell by a single run.

McCarthy went 1-for-2 with two RBIs, while Mitchell Daly had two hits and scored two runs. Outside of those two, Kentucky managed just two other hits.

Mason Moore hit a wall in the fifth inning. He gave up six earned runs in 4.1 innings. The bullpen was solid, but they were already too far behind.

Kentucky moves on the the NCAA Regional now. They’ll play on May 31st, but the opponent and time of the game is still unknown.
