The Kentucky Wildcats baseball team hosted the Miami Redhawks on Tuesday evening for a mid-seek non-conference game. It would be a good night for the Cats.
Kentucky got on the board first with a walked-in run. Walks would be a theme in this game. Miami would take a 5 – 2 lead in the fifth inning, but the Wildcats would score six runs in the seventh inning to pull ahead for good. They’ add one more in the ninth for the 9 – 5 victory.
The Wildcats had just six hits in the game, but drew 14 walks and had five batters hit by pitches. In fact, two of their seventh inning runs came from hit batters with the bases loaded.
Nice Lopez went 1-for-4 for Kentucky and drove in two runs. Seven other Wildcats had one RBI as well. The Cats used seven different pitchers in the game.
