Kentucky baseball falls to Tennessee Volunteers to even the series

Kentucky baseball falls in game two of their series with Tennessee.

A day after Kentucky opened their series with a victory, Dominic Niman wasn’t able to get a single out against the Tennessee Volunteers. Five runs crossed the plate in the first inning, and Kentucky baseball never recovered, losing 9 – 4 on Saturday’s game two.

The Vols hit two homeruns and three doubles before even recording an out in the first inning. Ryan Waldschmidt stayed hot, and hit a homer of his own for the Wildcats in the first.

The Tennessee offense wasn’t done though, and by the end of the fifth, they were up 8 – 2. Kentucky scored twice more, but fell 9 – 4.

The Wildcats pitching had a rough outing. Niman failed to record an out, then Robert Hogan gave up three runs in his three innings of work.

The loss evens the three-game series at a game apiece. The rubber match will take place on Sunday at 1:00 PM ET. It can be seen on SEC Network+.
