As Steve Spurrier once said, it’s talking season.
SEC Media Days will kick off Monday, July 15 and run through Thursday, July 18. The event will be held in Dallas this year to welcome the arrival of Texas and Oklahoma to the SEC.
Kentucky will appear on the final day of SEC Media Days, joining Auburn, Arkansas and Texas A&M. For Wildcats coach Mark Stoops, it will mark his 12th appearance at the annual event. Stoops is now the longest-tenured coach in the SEC after Nick Saban announced his retirement in January.
On Monday, the SEC announced player representatives from each school. Appearing on stage with Stoops will be offensive lineman Marques Cox, senior linebacker D’Eryk Jackson and junior defensive lineman and Preseason Walter Camp All-American Deone Walker.
Jackson was Kentucky’s leading tackler a season ago, registering 89 tackles (ninth in the SEC) to go with 2.0 sacks, two interceptions, four pass breakups and two forced fumbles.
Cox started all 13 games in the trenches last season after transferring from Northern Illinois. Walker led Kentucky’s defense in sacks (7.5), tackles for loss (12.5) and quarterback hurries (8.0).
SEC Media Days will be televised live on SEC Network.
