It wasn’t that long ago that most Kentucky Wildcats fans were sure they were going to see the Cats go into the NCAA Tournament as a number one seed. They were red hot, and just getting healthy. It was thought that they could only get better.
Once SEC play arrived, things got tougher. The Cats began to drop games more regularly, and found themselves losing three home games in a row at one point. Fans became frustrated as Kentucky fell lower and lower in the rankings, and in tournament projections.
CBS released a new, updated prediction for March Madness, and Kentucky finds themselves in their lowest seed yet. They have the Wildcats as the number seven seed in the South bracket.
Kentucky would play tenth seeded Texas in round one if this were to happen, with North Carolina likely waiting for a re-match in round two. If the seeding were to hold up, SEC opponent Auburn would be up next, followed by another good defense in top-seeded Houston.
This road to the Final Four would be a tough one. Kentucky would face some strong defenses, which they’ve struggled with this year. The Cats need some wins to improve their chances at a higher see, and thus, a little bit of an easier road in the tournament. If CBS’s prediction holds up, it would be really difficult for them to make a championship run.
