Kendrick Perkins’ up-and-down takes on the Ball family look to currently be on an upswing after the former NBA big man gave his opinion on LaMelo Ball. Set to be one of the top picks in the 2020 NBA Draft, Ball is a polarizing prospect that some view as the most talented player in the draft while others deem him too risky.
Perkins falls into the former category. During his podcast “No Agenda” with Rashad Phillips, Perkins gave his take on Ball as a prospect (h/t TalkBasket).
“When I look at LaMelo Ball, first of all he is ready. I love what LaVar Ball did – ‘You know what? Come on, we gonna leave high school, I’m gonna have you play with these professionals, grown man and getting you ready for the NBA’. He [LaMelo Ball] has the swag, he has the mohawk, he has the smile, he has everything that you need. He’s not scared,”
Most recently, Perkins had to walk back his statements on Lonzo this season after calling him a bust. Perkins admitted to being wrong and acknowledged the strong season Ball was having. Perkins has also been critical of LaVar in the past, having an entirely different tone than the one presented in his comments on the podcast.
