Kendrick Perkins went from praising Boston fans to shredding Brooklyn Nets guard Kyrie Irving in a matter of moments on Tuesday night during the broadcast of the Celtics’ loss to the Rockets in Houston.
Perkins went out of his way to throw shade at Irving while marveling at the turnout of Celtics fans at an away game.
“When I was playing for the Celtics I never really focused on the crowd or the fans. I was so locked in,” he said. “Now that I’m an analyst, I’m retired, it’s amazing how many Celtics fans there are around the world.
“Do you hear these chants right now? ‘Let’s go Celtics.’ And Kyrie Irving didn’t want to play here. Every time I think of that guy, I want to throw up.”

Goodness.
Perkins’ unprompted insult isn’t his first expression of dislike for Irving. Last summer, Perkins said he was disappointed in Irving, with Perk admitting he didn’t care where Irving signed during free agency. He departed the Celtics and landed with the Brooklyn Nets, where he has had a troubled tenure, largely due to injuries.
