The Philadelphia 76ers are set to begin training camp for the 2021-22 season in roughly four weeks now and they now have to address the Ben Simmons situation as soon as possible.
The Sixers were taking trade calls on the 25-year old all offseason, but now, the 3-time All-Star is taking matters into his own hands and he told the team that he wants out. Simmons had himself another tough postseason run where familiar offensive issues popped up and it appears that frustrations have really boiled over.
Simmons is willing to go to any of the other 29 teams in the NBA as he desperately wants out of Philadelphia and one team that has been persistent in their pursuit of Simmons has been the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Kendrick Perkins joined Bally Sports to give his take and he believes the Timberwolves would be a perfect spot for Simmons:
I feel like a perfect fit for Ben Simmons would be a team like Minnesota. Right? The Timberwolves where he can surround himself with young talent like Anthony Edwards. A stretch big like Karl-Anthony Towns, right? That loves to stretch the floor, a pick-and-pop big where Ben Simmons can be the facilitator, a dribble handoff guy…those types of things. I feel like that Ben Simmons is a guy that needs to be on a team, where he doesn’t have outside distraction.
Minnesota Timberwolves are busy! – https://t.co/sm8O3lhpz2@KendrickPerkins joined me today at @BallySports & shares that that the 76ers PG would fit well in Minnesota NOT the Golden State Warriors.

The toughest part about a deal with the Timberwolves is that the Sixers probably don’t want what they can offer. On one hand, D’Angelo Russell and Malik Beasley would be very nice fits next to Joel Embiid on the offensive end, they would be disasters on the defensive end.
Simmons, for all of his obvious offensive shortcomings, is worth much more than what the Timberwolves can offer. At this point, the Sixers will have to try and figure out a way to get fair value for their embattled star as they now do not have any leverage in trade talks.
