Veteran boxer Kell Brook is contemplating retirement after losing to Terence Crawford on Saturday at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

The 34-year-old former champion from England was stopped by the current welterweight titleholder and pound-for-pounder in the fourth round of their fight.

Brook held his own in the early stages before Crawford caught his opponent with a hard right that sent Brook staggering into the ropes, which referee Tony Weeks ruled a knockdown.

At the restart Crawford then landed a further round of heavy blows, and the referee then called off the fight.

With three defeats to his name — all by knockout — Brook told Fighthype.com that he would consider his future in the sport. Asked if he would fight again, he said:  “I don’t know, I’ll just speak to my family, it might be the end of the road.

“Never in my career, nobody has ever done that to me in sparring or anything. It was one of them … I got caught with a shot I didn’t see. I’m gutted because nobody could’ve gotten me in better condition.

“I was bang on the limit. Maybe I could’ve been a bit more relaxed and loose, and let the shots go.”
