The Game Awards will reunite Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss when the show goes live on Dec. 9.
Yes, nearly two decades after The Matrix Reloaded’s curtain call, Reeves and Moss will be at Geoff Keighley’s big show to promote The Matrix Resurrections. Now you might be wondering why a couple of big-name Hollywood actors are doing at an award show dedicated to video games. The truth is, we don’t know!
It wouldn’t be the first time celebrities from other entertainment industries show up at The Game Awards for reasons that seem to have nothing to do with actual video games. However, some alleged leaks may be hinting at why they’re going to be there.

As first spotted by Eurogamer, there appears to be something called The Matrix Awakens in the works. User the_andshrew over on the Gaming Leaks and Rumors subreddit first noticed whatever this is on the PSN backend. Take a look at the alleged promotion art for yourself below.

Whatever this is, it may not be a full-on video game. The “Unreal Engine 5 experience” subheading suggests this might something else. Epic Games, the folks behind Unreal Engine, recently worked with Radiohead on the KID A MNESIA Exhibition, a digital art exhibit on PC and PS5. So The Matrix Awakens could be something similar.
