Karl-Anthony Towns donates $100,000 to Mayo Clinic for work on coronavirus test

Minnesota Timberwolves star center Karl-Anthony Towns announced on Sunday that he was donating $100,000 to the Mayo Clinic for their work in rolling out a test that detects COVID-19, a strain of coronavirus that has spread quickly around the world.

In the United States, one of the difficulties in treating the disease is the lack of testing that has been available for many citizens. Read more at USA TODAY.

In an Instagram post, Towns wrote that the Mayo Clinic “has begun rolling out a test to detect the virus that causes COVID-19. My hope is that we can fight this virus quicker and more efficiently by increasing the testing capabilities and availability and Mayo Clinic’s overall COVID-19 response. This is why I will be donating $100K to support these efforts.”
