Kareem Jackson got a rest day after giving Broncos coach Vic Fangio a cupcake

Broncos safety Kareem Jackson gave coach Vic Fangio a cupcake and was rewarded with a day off from practice.

Broncos safety Kareem Jackson was among the players who sat out Thursday’s practice but unlike his sidelined teammates, Jackson isn’t recovering from an injury.

Jackson, 32, was given a veteran rest day after successfully buttering up coach Vic Fangio.

“Kareem just begged me for a vet day, so I relented after he put a cupcake on my desk,” Fangio during his post-practice Zoom call.

Fangio was then asked which flavor of cupcake Jackson gave him.

“It doesn’t matter,” Fangio said. “I’ve never had a bad cupcake. I like them all.”

Jackson will likely be back on the field for Denver’s final training camp practice of the summer tomorrow. The Broncos will practice at Empower Field at Mile High on Friday night before final roster cuts on Saturday.

“It will be a similar format to what we did last week,” Fangio said of the team’s upcoming stadium practice. “If you took note, we put the ball at different spots on the field to start different periods, inter-mixed some kicking plays in there. It’s going to be very similar to that.”
