The Kansas City Chiefs let the contract of linebackers coach Britt Reid lapset amid a report the NFL is investigating the Feb. 4 accident that left a 5-year-old girl with life-threatening injuries.
Britt Reid is under investigation by police in Kansas City, Missouri, for impaired driving following the multi-vehicle crash that injured Young and another child. The NFL recently announced that it would be reviewing Reid’s case under the league’s personal conduct policy for any potential violations as soon as law enforcement has completed its case.
Young remains in critical condition as of Wednesday evening. The GoFundMe account set up for Young and her family has raised over $500,000.
Meanwhile, KMBC reported the NFL is investigating the situation.
“Our primary concern is for the young girl, her family, and the others who were injured. …
“The matter will be reviewed under the NFL’s personal conduct policy,” the NFL’s statement said. “We will continue to monitor developments and when law enforcement has completed its review we will address this matter and take any appropriate action.”
Britt Reid was with the Chiefs for eight seasons. The year 2020 was his second as linebackers/outside linebackers coach. Reid spent six seasons as the defensive line coach (2016-18), assistant defensive line coach (2015), and defensive quality control coach (2013-14). www.
