Seahawks free safety Quandre Diggs is one of the best in the league at his position. Coming into the 2023 season, Doug Farrar at Touchdown Wire had him ranked second at his position, trailing only Steelers star Minkah Fitzpatrick. However, some analysts are not fans of what Diggs has done this far this year. In fact, Pro Football Focus has Diggs graded out as the second-worst safety in the league right now – sandwiched between teammates Julian Love and Coby Bryant.
Clearly PFF is penalizing all three of them for something the team is doing schematically, but that’s a story for another day. One guy who does approve of the way Diggs is playing – and whose opinion we value a whole lot more than PFF’s – is Seahawks legendary strong safety Kam Chancellor. He shared a highlight from Diggs on Twitter yesterday, saying Diggs is playing the game the way it’s supposed to be played.

Bam Bam would know, as he played the position as physically as anybody has since Sean Taylor. While there were a few lean years between the time of Chancellor and Earl Thomas and this current group, the Seahawks have enjoyed a rare run at this position. In fact, with the exception of the tail-end of Ed Reed’s career, no team has enjoyed better play at safety during the Pete Carroll era than Seattle.
