Juventus gets its 15 points back after successful appeal

The ruling sees Juve jump up to third in the Serie A table

Three months after Juventus lost 15 points, Juventus got its 15 points back.

On Thursday, the sports court within the Italian Olympic Committee (CONI) ruled that the punishment against Juve must be reevaluated and as such, the 15-point penalty would be suspended.

Juventus was hit with the penalty in January for allegedly inflating player transfer valuations to make the club’s year-end accounting look more favorable.

Thursday’s ruling upheld bans for several members of the club’s former board, including former president Andrea Agnelli and current Tottenham director of football Fabio Paratici. Others, including Pavel Nedved, saw their appeals accepted.

Juventus moves up Serie A table

The ruling completely changes the dynamic of the Serie A table, with Juventus jumping up from seventh in the league to third — just two points behind Lazio in second.

Roma was pushed down to fourth, AC Milan to fifth and Inter to sixth. Only the top four will qualify for next season’s Champions League.

There is still a chance that the Italian soccer federation’s appeals court will reinstate Juve’s 15-point deduction, but any ruling is highly unlikely to come down before the end of the current season.
