Justin Tucker named top 100 NFL player by ESPN

ESPN released a top 100 list, predicting the best players during the 2020 NFL season. Former Texas Longhorn Justin Tucker came in at No. 98.

Considering Tucker is a kicker, ranking inside the top 100 of all NFL players is impressive. The two players behind him, Rob Gronkowski and Juju Smith-Schuster, are a Hall of Famer and Pro Bowler respectively. Ranking ahead of them shows how big of an asset Tucker is to Baltimore.

Last season, Tucker finished 28 of 29 from field goals and 57 of 59 in PATs. That resulted in a total of 141, third in the NFL. Only Harrison Butker of the Kansas City Chiefs and Will Lutz of the New Orleans Saints scored more points as a kicker last season than Tucker.

Besides making nearly everything he kicks, Tucker comes up in big moments for the Ravens. Over his career, he has hit 15 game-winning kicks. His clutch ability is what pushes him into a top 100 NFL player.

Tucker’s clutchest kick of last season came in Week 13 against the San Fransisco 49ers. Tied at 17, Tucker lined up from 49 yards out and drilled a game-winning field goal with 0:03 left to keep the Ravens in position for the No. 1 seed in the AFC.

Tucker and the Ravens are projected to once again have an excellent season. According to ESPN, the kicker is will only miss three field goals out of 30, while missing one extra point.

If he can continue to come up big in the clutch, Tucker could be a huge factor in Baltimore’s push towards the franchise’s third Super Bowl title.
