Last season, it was beyond evident that the Minnesota Vikings badly needed a running mate for Justin Jefferson. It was needed badly enough that they traded for tight end T.J. Hockenson at the trade deadline.
This offseason, they saw the departure of Adam Thielen and replaced him with a promising rookie in Jordan Addison. After wowing everyone during training camp, Addison thrived in his debut with four catches for 61 yards and a touchdown.
In speaking to the media on Tuesday afternoon, Jefferson took time to praise Addison.
“He’s a great receiver, he has the ability to run great routes and he has the ability to make those big plays when they come.”
The way the Vikings are going to maximize things this season is going to be behind Addison and Hockenson maximizing lesser coverage due to the presence of Jefferson. If the Vikings are going to take that next step, it’s going to be with players like Addison stepping up.
