On Friday morning, the day before the 2023 college football season kicks off for a majority of teams in the nation, the conference realignment bug bit again, sending both the California Golden Bears and Stanford Cardinal to the ACC, along with the SMU Mustangs.
This bit of news hit before a lot of Pac-12 football fans have fully processed the news that Oregon and Washington were leaving for the Big Ten, while schools like Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado, and Utah are leaving for the Big 12.

On Friday morning, one of the most popular former Oregon Duck alums, Los Angeles Chargers QB Justin Herbert, went on FS1’s The Herd with Colin Cowherd and was asked about his thoughts on the change for his former team.
“It’s going to take some time to get adjusted to that, but I’m excited,” Herbert said. “It’s a great opportunity to go play some football against some really good football teams. Growing up a fan of the Pac-10, it’s going to be tough moving on from that, but it’s a great opportunity for those guys to go branch out and do something special. I’m rooting on Oregon, I’m rooting on all of those teams, and am looking forward to watching some pretty good college football.”

Herbert is getting set for his fourth season with the Chargers this year, and he recently signed a lucrative new deal with the team that makes him among the highest-paid players in NFL history.
After growing up in Eugene as an Oregon fan, Herbert went on to win the Rose Bowl in 2019 before getting selected in the first round of the NFL Draft.
