Marcus Mariota‘s experience both in college and in the NFL is something he has used to help younger players, like fellow Oregon product and quarterback, Justin Herbert.
During his presser at the 2020 NFL Combine, Herbert says Mariota has been a mentor to him during his time at Oregon, via Titans beat writer Paul Kuharsky.
“Yeah, Marcus has been a great mentor to me. Didn’t have a whole lot of chance to play with him, I was there two years after he graduated,” Herbert said. “But he’s always come back for his younger brother Matt and has been a great guy. He’s always reached out and has offered as much advice as I could need.”
Herbert went on to say that he hasn’t spoken to Mariota about the draft process specifically because he knows Mariota is “pretty busy” and he “didn’t want to bother him too much.”
As Herbert prepares to be an early selection during the 2020 NFL Draft, Mariota is looking for his next destination after losing the starting job with the Titans to Ryan Tannehill in 2019.
