Justin Fields sent his parents out to celebrate without him after being named Bears starting QB

He had film to watch!

It took Bears head coach Matt Nagy way longer than it should have to reach the decision, but at least it did happen. Rookie Justin Fields will be the Bears starting quarterback even with veteran Andy Dalton back from injury.

Though the news shouldn’t have been a surprise, Nagy’s consistent stance that the job belonged to Dalton did make that Tuesday night call exciting for the Fields household. But Fields wasn’t exactly running out to celebrate.

During Wednesday’s press conference, Fields was asked about his reaction to getting the starting job, and he mentioned how his parents were in town and wanted to go out to celebrate their son being named Bears QB1.

Well, Bears fans will like how Fields handled that suggestion.

Fields said he didn’t want to be complacent about just being named the starting quarterback and instead, he wanted to focus on the weekend’s game against the Raiders. So while his parents did take the celebration outside that evening, Fields stayed back home and watched film with his dog.

You can’t blame his parents for wanting to celebrate, though. There’s nothing wrong with being proud about the accomplishment — even if there’s film to watch.
