Entering the 2023 NFL season, Justin Fields has a pivotal year in his career. After the Chicago Bears added explosive receiver D.J. Moore, first-round offensive tackle Darnell Wright, and filled in some significant defensive holes during the offseason, the baseline expectation is that Fields makes a considerable leap this fall.
But before Fields even starts to fathom living up to the hype, he’s got a few vital off-field tasks to take care of.
On Tuesday, after the conclusion of Fields’ youth football camp in Deerfield, Illinois, the young quarterback came across a group of kids excited to meet him. In a video from photographer and videographer Simeon Kelley (@SirSimeonKelley on Twitter), Fields wasted no time running over to give them all high fives as they erupted in joy.
This is, quite simply, what it’s all about, folks:

What a special gesture from one of the NFL’s brighter young talents.
Soon enough, Fields might come to be known more for what he accomplishes on the football field. But moments like this show he understands there’s so much more to being an athlete than what you achieve between the lines.
