In somewhat of a surprising turn of events, former Kentucky forward Justin Edwards went undrafted as the 2024 NBA draft came to a close. It didn’t take long, however, for him to find a new home, and the Philadelphia 76ers scooped him up as a free agent, per Shams Charania.
Edwards was the number three overall player in the 2023 recruiting class, and it was expected that he would spend a season at Kentucky, then be a top draft pick. He struggled in his lone season in Lexington, though.

Philadelphia is Edwards’ hometown team, which likely makes the signing a bit special, and probably makes him feel a little better about not being picked. The former Wildcat signed a two-way contract with the Sixers, and will look to parlay that into a successful NBA career.
There’s no doubting that Edwards has talent and upside. The Sixers have been a good team, and it’s a good landing spot. He’ll have a chance to succeed, and if he does, Big Blue Nation won’t be surprised.
