Julian Edelman welcomed his new quarterback Cam Newton to Massachusetts with an epic social media post on Tuesday.
Newton signed with the New England Patriots on Sunday and will likely take the starting role in 2020 — though that hasn’t been confirmed. The 31-year-old former NFL MVP has a chip on his shoulder after a less than ideal departure from the Carolina Panthers. Newton and Edelman share a similar fire, stemming from the doubt and criticism they’ve both received in their football careers.
Newton has a particular style in which he writes on social media posts, and Edelman picked up on that while welcoming his new quarterback.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady wasn’t having it though.

Edelman will likely be Newton’s top target and their relationship will be fundamental for New England’s success.
