Julian Edelman shares encouraging update on his conversation with DeSean Jackson

“DeSean and I spoke for a while last night.”

Julian Edelman made national headlines on Thursday after responding to DeSean Jackson’s anti-Semitic comments.

The New England Patriots receiver, who is jewish, sent out a video to Jackson and opened the dialogue for “uncomfortable conversations.” He offered an opportunity for the star receivers to meet up in Washington D.C., where they would visit the Holocaust Museum and the National Museum of African American History and Culture.

Edelman followed up on Friday and said he had a conversation with Jackson and they’re making plans to “educate one another and grow together.”

“DeSean and I spoke for a while last night,” Edelman tweeted.” We’re making plans to use our experiences to educate one another and grow together. Stay tuned.”

With a lack of understanding and compassion that oftentimes happens without the experiences or education, it’s hard to properly assess a situation. Edelman’s approach to Jackson’s comments will hopefully spark a movement toward understanding and learning with an open mind.
