For the first time in his career, New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman is working with a new quarterback. So far, he is very pleased with what Cam Newton brings to the table.
In particular, Newton’s confidence stands out to Edelman. The former Carolina Panthers star is making a good first impression on the wide receiver. This is certainly a positive sign, as he figures to be a major part of the New England offense. With Edelman being a veteran who has been in the system a couple of years, Newton may rely on the wideout quite a bit in the fall.
“He’s definitely a former MVP for a reason,” he said. “The guy is a professional. He works his tail off. He’s extremely dynamic and he’s got a charming personality. It’s been fun to be around. He has a confidence about him — all quarterbacks have a confidence, but it’s just a little different with Cam. It’s a vibe that can feel you and get you in a mindset. It’s been fun.”
It will be interesting to see the dynamic between quarterback and wide receiver. The pair have already worked out with each other a couple times this offseason. Time will tell if the hard work will pay off.
