If you are a football purist, there are few things you enjoy more than watching a team run a proper no-huddle offense. The pacing and rhythm are exciting to watch. And Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is one of the best in the business of running the no-huddle.
This was a point wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster pointed out when he spoke to the media on Monday he highlighted just how good Roethlisberger is when he takes over the offense on the field.
“He is able to go into no-huddle and just call plays from the back of his head,” Smith-Schuster said.
When Roethlisberger led the league in passing in 2018, some of his biggest plays came when he was able to step up to the line of scrimmage, read the defense and make a call. With the sheer volume of weapons Roethlisberger will have at his disposal, the best thing offensive coordinator Randy Fichtner can do is let Roethlisberger have full autonomy of the offense when the Steelers need a play the most.
