Estrada vs. Gonzalez: Tale of the tape

Juan Francisco Estrada

Estrada (41-3, 28 KOs) finally gets his chance at a rematch nine years after a scintillating unanimous decision setback against Gonzalez (50-2, 41 KOs) back in 2012.

Estrada enters on a five-bout win streak, including a TKO win in the 11th round against Carlos Cuadras at Gimnasio TV Azteca in Mexico City last time out Oct. 23, 2020. That was fought on the same card as Gonzalez, as the promoters looked to really get everyone excited for a potential bout between these two. This will be Estrada’s first fight in the United States since he knocked off Srisaket Sor Rungvisai in Inglewood, Calif. April 26, 2019, in a unanimous-decision victory to win the WBC and The Ring super flyweight titles.

Roman Gonzalez

Gonzalez, a.k.a. “Chocolatito”, has won four world titles in four weight classes and is looking to keep his WBA super flyweight title in this one. On that same Oct. 23, 2020 card with Estrada, Gonzalez pushed past Israel Gonzalez in a unanimous decision to keep the WBA super flyweight strap. That win came on the heels of his ninth-round TKO over Kal Yafai in Fresno, Calif., Feb. 29, 2020, when he won that WBA super flyweight title. If we’re looking at common foes, Gonzalez lost back-to-back fights against Rungvisai, his only two professional losses, back in 2017.

Estrada vs. Gonzalez: Odds, predictions and picks

ESTRADA (-165) is a good play on the 3-way line if you just want to bet the fight straight up and not get involved with method of victory, individual round betting, etc. He has the confidence of his previous win over Gonzalez, albeit nine years ago. In addition, the common opponent of Rungvisai is telling. Estrada handled his business, while Gonzalez was knocked around twice.

If you do get a little more specific, playing ESTRADA ON POINTS (+135) is the way to go for method of victory, especially at plus-money.
