J.R. Smith only packed a week’s worth of underwear for the NBA bubble

Oh no, J.R.

Listen, packing is not an easy thing to do for anyone. It takes time, effort and, most importantly, coordination.

There’s always a whole mental checklist you have to go through. Do these pants go with any of my shirts? Where’s the toothpaste? What about the lotion? Are they all sealed away neatly?

Those are all important questions to ask yourself while packing. But then, there’s the question. The most important one of all.

Did I pack enough underwear for the trip?

And that, folks, is apparently the question J.R. Smith failed to ask himself when packing to head out to the NBA’s bubble in Orlando with the Lakers.

Smith only packed seven (!!!) pairs of underwear for what the Lakers hope will be a three month (!!!!!!!) trip. He explained how he made this mistake here.

“Honestly, I packed, like, seven. Because I figured I’d be good for once a day. But then I ain’t calculate all the showers in between everything that I be doing. So I be running through them in like two, three days. We got a good laundry system, though.”

Yikes, J.R. Yikes.

To be fair, it’s easy to fall into that trap. If he does laundry every six days, he could easily just continue to recycle the same seven pairs of underwear until they give out.

But, uh, couple things here. First, he’s an NBA player who works out, probably, a couple times per day.

Second, they’re in Florida! There’s nothing sweatier than the heat down in Florida. Literally two seconds after stepping out of the door your back basically turns into a sweat river. Now, imagine what that does to your underwear. RIGHT.

The consequences for not packing enough are dire — even on a simple weekend trip. J.R. might be walking around underwearless. Or worse — he could be doubling up on unwashed pairs. Yup. Funky.

This is tragic. Somebody get that man some more underwear. Please.
