No. 6 Ohio State (2-0) defeated No. 17 Tennessee (0-1), 12-10, Saturday at Tennessee Rugby Park.
The contest kicked off Tennessee’s 2022 regular season.
Tennessee entered its contest with the Buckeyes having not lost a game in 15s competition since Nov. 23, 2019. The Vols won the 2021 national championship.
Following the Vols’ season-opening contest against Ohio State, Tennessee captain Josh Shetler recapped the match.
“From a captains perspective, I can’t be prouder of the effort and toughness we played with,” Shetler told Vols Wire. “Lots of new guys in new positions and adjustments had to be made. Overall, it’s a good starting place for us to build on. We’re back to work this week in preparation for Kennesaw State coming up in a few weeks.”
Tennessee’s next game is at Kennesaw State Oct. 1. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m. EDT.
