Former Tennessee basketball guard Josh Richardson was traded at the NBA deadline Thursday.
Richardson was traded from Boston to San Antonio in a deal that sent a 2022 first-round draft pick and a future pick to the Spurs in exchange for Derrick White.
Richardson joined the Celtics during the 2020-21 offseason, where he played with fellow former Volunteer Grant Williams, a two-time SEC Player of the Year and a 2020 first-round NBA draft pick.
Before playing for the Celtics, Richardson spent the 2020-21 campaign with Dallas.
Richardson entered the NBA in 2015 after a four-year career with the Vols. He was drafted by Miami in the second round and was the No. 40 overall pick by the Heat.
Richardson, a two-time member of the SEC’ s All-Defensive Team in 2014-15, has also played in the NBA with Philadelphia.
In Philadelphia, he was teammates with former Vol Tobias Harris.
Richardson was a first-team All-SEC standout in 2015.
