The last time the Philadelphia 76ers were in Orlando in November, it did not go so well. They had a lead against the Magic that they saw disappear with sloppy play in the fourth as they committed seven turnovers in the final frame and were outscored 32-15 on their way to a 112-97 loss.
Josh Richardson led Philadelphia that night with 19 points, six rebounds, and five assists, but he does not want to remember that game.
“Nothing,” he said. “I remember wanting to forget it. So I forgot it.”
It’s a new day and a new matchup and it’s time to focus on that.
“I’m just ready to play today,” he added.
Coach Brett Brown has not immediately forgotten about the last loss in Orlando as his team has lost their previous three matchups with the Magic at Amway Center.
“I thought the last game we did a poor job of shooting free throws, we never really got to the line,” Brown said of his team’s 9-for-13 performance from the line. “We had seven turnovers in the fourth period and we did a poor job of finding their shooters in the fourth.”
Brown did acknowledge that the Sixers are able to make good things happen when they don’t turn the ball over. In other words, when they are able to take care of the rock, then they are able to make good things happen.
“Probably every coach would say this; when we are modest with our turnovers, we’re just solid, it’s not like we get four turnovers, but it’s somewhere that’s fair and reasonable and when we don’t foul, we’re not just whacking people and sending them to the line, most times good things happen,” he added. “I thought the last game, we turned it over too much, we had some unnecessary fouls, and their shooters got away from us.”
The Sixers and the Magic tipoff at 7:00 p.m. EST from the Amway Center. [lawrence-related id=22227,22217,22196]
