Josh Richardson shrugs off Sixers loss to Nets: ‘It’s 82 games’

Philadelphia 76ers guard Josh Richardson shrugged off the loss to the Brooklyn Nets on Sunday.

In a long 82 game season, a team is bound to have an off night where things just don’t go their way. For the Philadelphia 76ers, that happened on Sunday in a 109-89 loss to the Brooklyn Nets where they looked a bit sluggish and they weren’t able to figure anything out.

They allowed the Nets to score 64 points in the paint, they were outrebounded 52-38, and they only had eight fastbreak points compared to 23 for Brooklyn. It snapped a five-game winning streak that the Sixers were on, but it was their third game in four nights and this comes after they were able to earn wins over the teams such as the Toronto Raptors, the Denver Nuggets, and the Boston Celtics.

Nights like Sunday happen over the course of the grind, they just pick themselves up and move on.

“It’s 82 games, you’re bound to lay an egg every now and then,” said Josh Richardson who had 11 points and five rebounds. “We kind of just got to chalk it up because we got another game in a couple of days.”

In terms of Brooklyn scoring 64 points in the paint, the Sixers perimeter defenders were just having a tough time with the pick-and-roll game from the Nets. Spencer Dinwiddie was able to shake free and he was able to use big man DeAndre Jordan and Jarrett Allen in an effective way around the rim.

“DeAndre’s a great screener,” said Richardson. “He was getting a lot of contact on the screens and once their guys were able to get downhill with their right hands, they were very tough to start.”

The Sixers now pick themselves up and return home to host Richardson’s former team, the Miami Heat, on Wednesday. [lawrence-related id=21429,21421,21400]
