The biggest question around the Philadelphia 76ers is normally connected to the fitness base of big man Joel Embiid. The All-Star big man always seems to have his weight questioned or his fitness level questioned and it’s something that has followed him so far in his brief career.
Coach Brett Brown said that Embiid has been in the gym six days a week to prepare for the upcoming season resumption in Orlando. That is a good thing to hear for Sixers fans who are starved for a championship and Josh Richardson confirmed Brown’s initial statement.
“I’ve been seeing Joel in the gym quite a bit,” Richardson said on Monday. “He looks good, he looks like he’s in good shape so that’s encouraging.”
It was the big man’s turn to address the media on Tuesday and when Richardson’s comment was brought up, Embiid responded and cleared up any issues regarding his physical condition.
“I don’t think my weight is an issue,” Embiid said. “the thing to always watch is my body fat and I feel good. I’ve been chilling, I’ve been doing what I have to do.”
Embiid has played 44 games so far this season and when combining that with the three months off, one has to expect that he will be ready and refreshed for the season resumption in Orlando.
“Everyone is,” Embiid explained. “We got to be with our families in quarantine and all of that so I’m sure everybody’s rested.”
The Sixers will get back to work on August 1 and that is when Embiid and the rest of the Sixers will get their chance to chase their championship. [lawrence-related id=34240,34232,34224]
