Josh Norman salutes Luke Kuechly’s decision to retire

Josh Norman had some kind words for his former teammate.

Washington Redskins cornerback Josh Norman is one of the latest players to come out in support of former Carolina Panthers linebacker Luke Kuechly.

Kuechly shocked the world Tuesday by announcing his retirement before the age of 30, ending what could potentially be a Hall of Fame career.

Here’s what Norman had to say, per Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated:

“He was the epitome of that organization and of that position. It feels like I lost a brother in combat. Sad, sad day but I would be lying if I said I didn’t see it coming, I just miss that guy some much on the battlefield and I know he missed his guys as well.

“Not saying that this was a factor in anything, but who you play the game with/for makes a big difference in some decisions we make in life, as well as the personal ones, i.e. health. But he’s always been a warrior since Day 1, and I knew this was a tough, tough thing to do for him. But whatever he does after this, the sky is the limit!”

That’s a heartfelt, great statement from Norman, who came into the league alongside Kuechly and played four years with him.

Norman wasn’t the only Redskins member to speak on the retirement, as head coach Ron Rivera had something to say about his former linebacker, too.
