Josh Heupel thanks fans for ‘electric’ game day atmosphere

Josh Heupel thanks Tennessee fans for ‘electric’ game day atmosphere against Georgia.

No. 1 Georgia (10-0, 8-0 SEC) defeated Tennessee (5-5, 3-4 SEC), 41-17, Saturday at Neyland Stadium.

100,074 were in attendance at Neyland Stadium.

Following the contest, first-year Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel met with media and discussed fans providing an electric atmosphere on game day.

“I want to start by just saying it’s been almost a month since we played a home game, and the fans were electric and awesome,” Heupel said. “Before the game, the Vol Walk was as good of a sight as I’ve ever seen. The energy earlier inside the stadium was fantastic too, we appreciate what they did.

“Disappointed with the outcome, obviously that’s a really good football team we played in Georgia, they deserve a ton of credit. There are some things that we had to do better to change the way the game was played in the second half and down the stretch.”
