Josh Heupel discusses Vols going from Week 1 to Week 2.

Tennessee (1-0) kicked off its 2021 season with a 38-6 victory against Bowling Green.

The Vols will host Pittsburgh (1-0) on Saturday in Week 2 (noon EDT, ESPN).

Ahead of Saturday’s game, first-year Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel discussed the Vols heading into Week 2.

“It was the first time we’ve played in all three phases, offense, defense and special teams, so we have a lot of opportunity to grow,” Heupel said of Tennessee playing Bowling Green and heading into Week 2. “Coaches say going from Week 1 to Week 2 can be your biggest improvement. I think you have a chance to continue to improve and make big jumps throughout the course of the year. I think that is what really good football teams do.

“I do think we have an opportunity to jump in who we are, how we execute, how we play and communicate. It’s a big test for us. It’s a good football team. Our guys are excited, and we’ve had a great week of preparation. I like the mindset, the mentality and the effort they have shown up until this point. We have to finish it off the right way in the next 48 hours to give yourself a chance to play as clean as you can and play with great effort.”
