Josh Heupel discusses if Vols are planning to play two quarterbacks against Bowling Green.

The Vols will host Bowling Green on Thursday at Neyland Stadium.

Kickoff is slated for 8 p.m. EDT and SEC Network will televise the season-opening matchup.

First-year head coach Josh Heupel named Joe Milton III as Tennessee’s starting quarterback for the Bowling Green game.

After naming a starting signal-caller, Heupel was asked during his weekly Monday press conference if he is planning to play two quarterbacks against Bowling Green.

“Every game unfolds with a different situation,” Heupel said. “I’ve told our guys this, and said it in here before, but it’s true, the strength of one position can never be one guy. All of them have to prepare like a starter.

“I anticipate (Joe Milton III) getting the ball first and playing his butt off in a really good way.”
