While the relationship between Brandon Ingram and Lonzo Ball has been discussed in the past, Josh Hart has been a part of every twist and turn in Ball and Ingram’s careers over the last three seasons. Drafted in the same class as Ball, Hart has gone through all the trials and tribulations of being included in trade rumors before eventually being moved.
After shootaround on Thursday, Hart talked about the developments of his two long-time teammates.
“They both had career years,” Hart said. “Obviously, Brandon was an All-Star and I think, in my book, Most Improved Player. He made incredible leaps this season. Zo, also, being able to really be a point guard and play fast, play the way he wants to play the ball. He shot the ball very well this season, got other guys involved.
“They both did amazing jobs and I’m looking forward to seeing what they do next year (after) having a year under their belt with the franchise, with the city and really being more comfortable with where they are,” he added. “I’m very excited for that. (They’re) very young and very talented and the sky is limit for both of them.”
While Ingram and Ball had breakthrough seasons, Hart also saw an uptake in production in New Orleans, though not as drastic as Ingram or Ball. Hart averaged a career-high 9.9 points per game this season as well as averaging career-highs in rebounds (6.4) and assists (1.6).
Though Hart carved out a role with the Lakers, his role increased with the Pelicans as he played more minutes and took more shots as well. Each of Hart, Ingram and Ball saw their roles increase and their production increased with it, a positive sign for the Pelicans moving forward.
