Josh Giddey ruled out on Wednesday for Thunder due to injury

Thunder rookie Josh Giddey will not play on Wednesday in the Las Vegas Summer League versus the Pelicans.

Oklahoma City Thunder rookie Josh Giddey will not play on Wednesday night in the Las Vegas Summer League versus the New Orleans Pelicans due to a left ankle sprain, the team announced.

Giddey played just five minutes in his debut with the Thunder on Sunday after suffering the injury versus the Detroit Pistons. He tried to play through the injury but was eventually pulled from the lineup and ruled out of returning to the contest.

The sixth pick registered two points on 1-of-3 shooting from the field prior to exiting the 76-72 win. His lone field goal occurred just seconds into the first quarter.

The Thunder have listed Giddey as day-to-day with the injury, meaning it is likely not too severe. Certainly, the team will be cautious with the injury and not rush Giddey back too soon but it appears as though he could play again before the conclusion of summer league.
