Josh Giddey joined Westbrook in Thunder history after 11 assist night

Giddey produced his fifth double-double on Monday and made a bit of team history during a win over the Grizzlies.

Oklahoma City Thunder rookie Josh Giddey produced his fifth career double-double on Monday and made a bit of team history in the process during a win over the Memphis Grizzlies.

Giddey finished with 19 points, a career-high 11 assists and five rebounds during the 102-99 victory. He went 7-of-16 from the field, including 3-of-8 from 3-point range, in nearly 30 minutes of work as the Thunder posted their sixth comeback win of the season by at least 15 points.

The performance by Giddey marked his second straight game with at least 10 assists as he became the first Thunder rookie since Russell Westbrook (2009) to accomplish that feat.

In addition to joining Westbrook in Thunder history, the 19-year-old has also etched his name alongside some of the greats in the game given some of the stat lines he has posted to this point of the season.

Giddey became the second-youngest player (LeBron James) to dish out 10 assists and he did so in just his fifth game. He also joined James and LaMelo Ball as the only teenagers in history to reach 100 rebounds and 100 assists within their first 20 games.

Given his prior professional experience, Giddey appears to see the floor very well compared to his of his rookie peers and that has resulted in some remarkable performances. The accolades should only continue to pile up the more he plays this season.
