Josh Downs earns praise from former All-Pro WR

UNC football standout Josh Downs earned some praise from a former All-Pro wide receiver.

Former North Carolina wide receiver Josh Downs is hoping to hear his name called within the first two rounds of the 2023 NFL draft. With the draft just a few weeks away, Downs has not taken a top 30 visit and wont take any the remainder of the time.

The receiver is likely comfortable with where his draft stock currently is or feels like he has a draft promise from a few teams.

While Downs is being projected as a second-round pick, one former All-Pro receiver had nothing but praise for his game.  Former Carolina Panthers receiver and current NFL analyst Steve Smith Sr. said that Downs is the “Footwork King. I’m telling you, this kid got some great footwork” during an appearance on the Cut to It podcast:

Downs has been praised for his footwork before and scouts are raving about it in the reports. While he’s considered to be anywhere from WR4-to-WR6, Downs should be called early on Day 2 at the worst. And he could be a potential steal for a team that needs a wide receiver.
