Former North Carolina Tar Heels’ wide receiver Josh Downs is making a good first impression with his new team.
After being taken by the Indianapolis Colts in the third round of the 2023 NFL draft, Downs is out to prove that he belongs and shouldn’t have been taken that late. And so far, he’s doing a good job of that.
The latest example comes on Wednesday night when the Colts hosted the Chicago Bears for the first of two joint practices. Downs stood out to those in attendance and was a favorite target of fellow rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson during the practices:

Downs had a good preseason debut with the Colts the other day against the Buffalo Bills and has been the go-to target for Richardson since the two were in rookie minicamp. The hope is that they are the future of the Colts’ offense for years to come and can establish that bond right away.
I’d say they are off to a good start so far.
