While Minshew Mania has simmered down, Jacksonville Jaguars first-round pick Josh Allen is still killing it in his rookie campaign. He’s managed to accumulate 21 total tackles and a team-high of eight sacks while starting in four games and participating in all of the Jags’ 2019 contests. As a result, Allen has managed to maintain the No. 3 spot of Bovada’s Defensive Rookie of the Year odds.

We last checked in on Allen’s odds before the Jags’ bye on Bovada and there were only two players ahead of him in Nick Bosa and Devin Bush. Fast-forward to present day and that still is the case although Allen’s odds have improved from +1200 to +700. Meanwhile, Bosa and Bush have odds of -350 and +375, respectively.

On the field, Allen has proven why he was graded as a top-4 pick wreaking havoc on the edge. What makes the year that he’s having even more impressive is the fact that he’s doing it with less playtime than veteran Calais Campbell and former pro bowler Yannick Ngakoue.

While Allen is balling out and is a stud, one thing that could hinder him is the Jags’ sporadic usage of him. His snap count has declined in the Jags’ past three games, though the staff recently said they want him on the field more. If they can get him on the field for a little over 55% of their snaps, he may be able to produce to the point where he can catch both Bush and Bosa.
