Jorel Ortega transferred to 60-day injured list

Former Vol Jorel Ortega transferred to 60-day injured list.

Former Vol Jorel Ortega was assigned to the Fort Myers Mighty Mussels Aug. 9 from FCL Twins.

The Mighty Mussels are a Single-A affiliate of Minnesota located in Fort Myers, Florida.

Fort Myers placed Ortega on the 7-day injured list with a left wrist sprain Aug. 12.

The Mighty Mussels transferred Ortega from the 7-day injured list to the 60-day injured list Aug. 18.

Ortega has played in three games with Fort Myers and FCL Twins, totaling one hit, two RBIs and two walks.

Ortega was selected in the sixth round (No. 174 overall) of the 2022 MLB draft by Minnesota.

The 6-foot, 194-pound Ortega appeared in 66 games during the 2022 season at Tennessee. He recorded 18 home runs, 61 RBIs, 57 runs, 76 hits, 20 doubles, four triples, 25 walks and three stolen bases in 2022.

Tennessee won the Southeastern Conference East division for the second consecutive season, the league regular season and tournament championships in 2022.
